Hi podcaster, I want to invite you to join me in a podcasting challenge. 31 days that you can start Now. This challenge should be fun and easy for everyone with a podcast.
I host 2 completely different podcasts. Project Podcast with Pixie, and Next On Stage One. This challenge will work for both of them. The goal is to complete tasks and engage on social media.
So let's get this challenge started. start by subscribing, bookmarking the page, and inviting your podcasting friends.
Day 1 of #Podcast31
Create a hello post.
Most people don’t know who you are or what you're trying to do.
That helps new followers get to know me. It’s a post that I do every two weeks: simple, clean, with no hashtags and no links. The purpose is not to gain new followers. It can also help unlock yourself from the algorithm.
Here is an example from Twitter. You can use it on any platform.
Day 2 of #Podcast31
Fill out your Bio
No matter what platform you use people will always look at theFillpletely fill out your bio on any social media in 1-2 sentences. Describe what the podcast is all about such as who the hosts are and where can listeners find it. I like to use the hashtag #podcast on my page to help with engagement. Don't worry about getting it right the first time.
A bio should be looked at / changed every 3 months.
Day 3 of #Podcast31
Connect with 5 New podcasters Today.
Help other small podcasters grow.
You have a lot of knowledge you can share with others. If you can teach something to another podcaster, you can form a relationship.
Day 4 of #Podcast31
Time to brainstorm ideas for your podcast.
Try something new. If you come up with an idea for podcasting or marketing, write it out, put it down, and give it a try. If it doesn’t work that's ok, but if it does, you can keep working on the idea.
Day 5 of #Podcast31
Clean up your podcasting space!
Today take time to clear the allow yourselfpportunity to add and remove things.
Day 6 of #Podcast31
Create a call to action.
No one knows what the podcast needs more than you. You can ask for anything, you just might not get it. People are willing to support you with time, money, and effort. So ask wisely.
Things you can ask for
More listens
Shares
Likes
Interaction
Word of mouth
Guest
Summited content
Money
Day 7 of #Podcast31
Create a 30-second Elevator Pitch.
You need to have an elevator pitch. Every podcast should be able to tell a potential listener what the podcast is about, in the time it takes to ride on the elevator. Don't be afraid to make it personal or exciting. You are the hype man!
Day 8 of #Podcast31
Slow and steady
Build your following 1 listener at a time. Don't pay for followers, everyone gets caught up in the follow 4 follow. This will fail! You should be following people that add value to the conversation.
Take time to look over the profiles of people you are considering following.
Day 9 of #Podcast31
Time to make a hashtag for your podcast!
Why should a small podcast even want a hashtag? It makes the podcast more optimized for search engines, and people can find it easier. You can use it to organize posts, and it can help you with giveaways. On top of that, it's cool to be creative. I use the hashtag #Podcast31 for this challenge
I also capitalized all of the words so it's eager to read.
Day 10 of #Podcast31
It's time to clean up your links.
Make sure people can easily find the podcast.
If you don't have a webpage you can use a link tree or other service such as Podpage.
Day 11 of #Podcast31
Find out where your audience hangs out online and join those groups, pages, and message boards. Don't just spam your links though. Engage with the members. Show them you're knowledgeable about the subject matter. Give them a chance to trust you as a reliable source and let the fact that you have a podcast come up organically.
Day 12 of #Podcast31
Time to give feedback
The best way to get feedback is to give some yourself and ask for constructive criticism. Pick a show that you love and make a post. Don’t forget to tag them, everyone loves to get feedback.
Day 13 of #Podcast31
What's this month’s goal?
I want you to take the time to write down 1-3 things that are within your grasp like finding 10 new followers or collaborating with others. This would be fun and simple.
Day 14of #Podcast31
Say yes to trying something new.
This year has a lot of potential to make things happen.
Day 15 of #Podcast31
Get your audience involved!
Involve the listeners you do have in the effort to grow. Build a community around your show and make them feel like they are a part of it. As an example, my podcast does a “listener bonus” for every 50 subscribers we get on Spotify. Sometimes we let them pick the topic of the next episode, sometimes we do a drawing to give a few of them access to our private discord. We talk about this at the end of every episode and promote it regularly on our social media. Things like that help keep people engaged beyond just your regular episodes and encourage your listeners to help you grow your audience.
Day 16 of #Podcast31
Keep moving forward!
Keep trying. Keep learning. Never get discouraged because every good thing goes through growing pains. Keep your chin up and promote yourself whenever and wherever it’s appropriate because you gotta support yourself and no one can be expected to do it for you.
Day 17 of #Podcast31
Throwback podcast episodes
Do you have a favorite episode? Repost it, and add why you liked it so much. You can also do this with posts, memes, and photos from the podcast. Nothing wrong with reposting or even rewording posts for more engagement. Some of your new followers might have missed out on it.
Day 18 of #Podcast31
Collaboration
I want you to be a guest on someone else’s podcast. You have been building a group of podcasting friends and it’s time to collaborate with them. It’s about reaching out and enjoying time with other podcasters.
Don’t forget to invite them to your podcast.
Day 19 of #Podcast31
Be your own cheerleader!
No one is going to stumble across your podcast. you have to tell people about it.
Audio grams, commercials, reviews, collaborations, tweets, and videos are just the start.
Day 20 of #Podcast31
Have you plateaued as a podcaster?
This just means you are comfy. Now is the time to shake things up.
I want you to record a short video on how your podcast is doing. ups downs whatever you want to talk about.
Day 21 of #Podcast31
Time to Reach out to a new community!
I want you to try something new. reach out to a new community that has a similar, but different interest to your podcast.
Make a post or a new connection. this can be on spaces, Instagram, Facebook, and even LinkedIn.
Day 22 of #Podcast31
Take photos of your studio.
It’s fun to see other podcasters recording studios. I have two different setups and change them every season. Not only does this give me something to talk about but shows that my show is growing over time.
Day 23 of #Podcast31
Try Twitter Spaces!
One of my fave tools for podcasting and networking is the audio side of twitter. I host a space just for podcasters every Wednesday at 12 pm MST.
All you have to do is follow me on Twitter @PixieProjectPod
Day 24 of #Podcast31
Take new promotional photos of yourself.
You should have a clean and clear professional photo of yourself. It’s also the best way for potential customers to get to know you. People will take your podcast more seriously. I like to have new photos done every 6 months or if I drastically change my looks.
Day 25 of #Podcast31
Go live
I want you to experience going live. Most platforms have a live function. I’m not asking for high quality; just a simple jump on and say hello to your followers.
What this will do is show people that you are trying new things. You could do it as a meet and greet or just a review of the latest podcast episode.
Day 26 of #Podcast31
Host an AMA for your podcast.
This could be video, audio, or just a simple test post. Ask Me Anything is a great way to get people involved in what you are building. Plus, that makes for some amazing content that you can re-post later
Day 27 of #Podcast31
Time to share more about you!
I love building in public. That’s because I can be open with my audience. It can be hard to give more of yourself. You might think that people don’t care what you do when your are not podcasting.
You would be wrong. We are more than just podcasters.
So share something funny or a hobby that you love.
Day 28 of #Podcast31
Create a fill-in-the-blank post on social media!
“Podcasting is ….” see what others come up with.
Day 29 of #Podcast31
Shout out to your Favorite creator.
Yes, This is another post about someone else. Why is it beneficial to boost others? There is someone out there helping and inspiring others. You should always try to give to the people that inspire you. Without them, you might not have started.
Day 30 of #Podcast31
Share your knowledge!
Do you know something that other podcasters don’t? Now is the time to write a post about 3 things you wished someone would have told you before you started podcasting.
As I grow I learn more and something that should have been obvious was not.
Day 31 of #Podcast31
